Recent Alcohol-Related Tragedies involving University of Southern Mississippi Students

Sammy Broadhead, June 25, 2004, University of Southern Mississippi How and why? Sammy Broadhead, a Sigma Nu alumnus and Southern Miss grad, attended a party June 25, 2004, at his old frat house on the Hattiesburg campus. Playing a drinking game called beer pong, Sammy collapsed from high levels of alcohol consumption and later died.
Kaitlyn Bryant, 20,  April 6, 2008, Pearl River Community College (University of Southern Mississippi student arrested for DUI) How and why? Kailtin’s vehicle collided head-on early Sunday with a vehicle driven by Shelby Brown, 20, a Southern Mississippi student . Brown was intoxiated at the time.
