Recent Alcohol-Related Tragedies involving University of California at Berkeley Students

Samuel Levine, 22, March 19, 2013, University of California More Information Samuel lost his life in Mexico on spring break while climbing to his hotel room from the outside when the structure on which he was supported collapsed.  His friends confirmed to investigators that he had been drinking prior to the climb.
Milanca Lopez (nonstudent) and six-year old son, Xavier, May 18, 2012, University of California-Berkeley (Intoxicated student driver) More Information Milanca and Xavier lost their lives when the car in which they were riding crashed.  The driver was Milanca’s boyfriend who was a graduate student.   The boyfriend had a blood/alcohol level of  at least .16.
Steve Saucedo March 26, 2004, University of California, Berkeley More Information At spring break celebration among friends Steve drank himself to death during a contest to see who could consume the most alcohol,
Christopher Wootton, 21, May 3, 2008, University of California, Berkeley More Information Christopher was stabbed to death early Saturday during a drunken melee in the parking lot of a sorority house not far from campus.
