Winona State University Law enforcement to enforce underage drinking laws near WSU this weekend-8/18/10 “We aim to set a tone for the year that underage drinking and providing alcohol to minors will not be tolerated. The dangers - binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, violent behavior and impaired driving - put college students and the greater community at risk.”

Recent Alcohol-Related Tragedies involving Winona State Students

Jenna Foellmi, December 14, 2007, Winona State  More Information Jenna was found dead in her apartment on the morning of December 14th. Police say she was seen consuming alcohol for much of the previous day. Police say she began drinking after taking her last final exam of the semester, then she attended several parties. The coroner said Jenna died of acute alcohol poisoning.
Ellen “Ellie” Ahmann, 21, December 31, 2013, Winona State University More Information Ellie lost her life when her car crashed into the Mississippi River on New Years’ eve.  Reports stated that she had a blood alcohol level of .16.
