Investigators trace fatal fire to love seat

Reports that the fire started in the living room and likely a love seat was the most likely source of the fire.

sed cigarettes were found in the living room were , but their role as an ignition source could not be verified.  In the early morning, firefighters discovered the bodies of 23-year-old Scott Hams, 21-year-old April Englund and 20-year-old Amanda Rief who all  died as a result of smoke inhalation.

MENOMONIE -

Reports that  three students were legally intoxicated at the time of their death in the fire.  "Amanda Rief had a blood alcohol level of 0.30. April Englund's blood alcohol level was 0.21 while Scott Hams' was 0.17.  The legal limit in Wisconsin is 0.08."
