Fraternity bid week partying and drinking preceded the death of Florida Southern College student Michael Szwed, Lakeland police said Monday.

Reported that Michael died on a Saturday night of a lacerated spleen .Earlier in the day Michael had participated in a slip n slide fraternity bid week event.
The report stated that Michael was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity,
and had been out drinking Friday night, until 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning and began drinking again for the
next day, the bid day event.
His roommate said Michael had been "very intoxicated and that he had been throwing
up a during bid day." Michael took a "hard fall, while using the Slip 'n Slide.

Parents File Suit in FSC's Bid Week Death
Reported that Michael Szwed's parents are suing the college, his fraternity and two students, claiming they could have prevented his death.
Also reported that Michael had a blood-alcohol content of 0.13 at the time of the accident.
