Beth, Maxime Profit, and former student Thurman "Rion" Lowe III lost their lives after being struck by an intoxicated hit and run truck driver while walking home from a popular bar, “The Buzz.”  Two other students were injured, one critically.  A student was quoted as follows: "Everybody walks back along here from the bars, And he should have walked,” she said of the driver. "I don't think he even knew he hit anybody."
